Met predicts rain, snow in state from Dec 9The winter capital of the state, which is reeling under a dry spell, may receive medium to fairly widespread rain from Wednesday onwards. The Jammu region has received no rain for the past more than a month.

The Meteorological Department has said the western disturbance may affect the state and adjoining areas from Wednesday onwards.

“A western disturbance is likely to hit the state by December 9 and will affect J&K and adjoining areas,” said a Met official.

“Due to this weather system, moderate snow over hills and light to moderate rains (in plains) may occur at many places of the Pir Panjal ranges in Kashmir division and at a few places over Ladakh and higher reaches of the Jammu region,” he added.

Met officials said the weather may disrupt surface and air transport systems of the state. They said the wet weather would continue till next week.

Meanwhile, Jammu observed a clear sky today. Its recorded a minimum temperature of 9°C and maximum of 24°C. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -1°C and a maximum of 14°C.
